Rank Advancement & Cross-Ranking PoliciesRank Advancement PolicyBe it resolved that Black Belts of the Faith International is a Christian martial arts service-oriented organization dedicated to the training and advancement of Christian martial artists, and to the good news of the gospel message. As Christian martial artists, we herein declare our independence from the potential tyranny of the rule under a grand master martial arts system. We hereby declare our allegiance to serve wholeheartedly the only Master we can serve, the Lord Jesus Christ. As such, all officers of BBFI and its Board members dedicate themselves to serve the promotional needs of BBFI members; that we will never "lord it over them" when they seek advancement and training in the martial arts. It seemed prudent to the founders that, although BBFI rates its instructors, it should not engage in issuing rank to martial artists. Black Belts Martial Arts Association International is herein established as the official rank-issuing agency of BBFI. Ching Sai Do or Combat Fighting Arts is hereby recognized as the official style of Black Belts Martial Arts Association. Ching Sai Do can also be interpreted as "striving toward mastery." Our goal therefore as Christian martial artists is to strive to master the art of self-defense without serving a grand master. Although we respect those who hold advanced ranks in the martial arts, we find it impossible to serve any master other than the Lord Jesus Christ. The Executive Director of BBFI is duly authorized to appoint board members for a one-year term. Only active BBFI members may be appointed to the Board. Whenever possible instructors who have chartered their schools and registered their students with BBFI will be given preference as candidates for membership on the Board. No person who allows his/her membership to lapse may continue to serve as a Board Member. Cross-Ranking PolicyThe dream of every martial artist is that one day their quest for their black belt will come to fruition with that long awaited award. After years of training and studying their art, they are informed that the day has arrived to prepare for the black belt exam. BBFI places black belts into two categories: (1) Those who have made their black belt through a BBFI school or have tested through video. (2) Those who are already a black belt when they come into BBFI. Cross Ranking is for those who come into the BBFI already as a black belt. Before certification is approved, the new member must document his/her present dan ranking. A copy of the Black Belt Certificate is sufficient. A Cross Rank Certificate is issued to Charter and Executive members indicating the credentials were found to be in order. The style, rank, and test date are noted on the Cross Rank Certificate to signify acceptance into BBFI under the banner of Ching Sai Do.
